Sydney Airport's Integration of Terminals

Sydney Airport announced today a proposal of integration of its international & domestic terminals & regional services.  Domestic T2 & T3 terminals will be dedicated to QANTAS and its partners including Jetstar international partners.

The international terminal T1 will be for Virgin Australia including its international partners.

All international flights will still arrive at T1.

What this means is that both domestic & international QANTAS flights could land at the T2/T3 terminals and Virgin Domestic at T1 terminal.

Sydney Airport commented that this would also reduce traffic "peak times" for each terminal and will eliminate the need for shuttles, terminal buses, taxis & HC cars between terminals, so if you arrive in Sydney from Cairns to change from Domestic to International flights then you will not have to change terminals unless you are flying different airlines.

The proposal is set to start its planning in 2014 with the new system operational by 2019.

They will not get it right no matter how much planning they do.
They totally stuffed up the bus holding areas and suddenly we are been pushed further and further away from the terminals.

I remember reading that Sydney Airport "worked closely" with coach companies about the holding area but what coach company in their right mind would want to have buses sitting near the long term parking and during peak hour traveling to T1. Domestic is a mess. Sydney Airport really has no idea.
